    I agree with the top comment, although at the end of your workouts, do some bodyweight ab exercises, just try to hit as many diffrent areas as you can. IMO weighted ab exercise really isnt needed at all.

    All workouts are glycogen depleting, anytime you use a muscle you use glycogen, and that shaking is just muscles being used that aren't used to being used. (ie elongated, weak muscles).

    I cut from 190 down to 8% at 155 ripped out my mind now and my abs are barely visible. Its so important to hit your abs while youre in a caloric surplus so you can add some mass to them. The bigger your abs, the lower bf you have to be to see them. Right now, im the leanest Ive ever been and get to see people with way higher bf than me who have better abs. Abs shouldnt need direct work to grow, heavy squats and deads should help them develop nicely.
    Squats and deads hit the back more than the front. If anything except the back, then it would be the core. It won't hit your abs directly as crunches or any other ab-exercise would do. Your logic just seem to be a bit inconsistent. Why wouldn't abs need direct work when EVERY other muscle needs it to develop properly? The bigger your abs are THE EASIER it is to get them to show.
    Squats and dead absolutly obliterate all of your core muscles. Your spine is supporting more weight doing these workouts then any other move. You spine is supported by your lower back muscles and your abs. Regardless if you feel it in your abs or not you are building direct mass on them while doing it. Gerard Butlers workout for 300 was pure compound movements. Heavy squats,Deads, Weighted pull ups. NO DIRECT AB WORK. Look at his abs in that movie. Lots of pro BB never do direct ab work either.

    Furthermore you are correct the bigger your abs the easier it is to get them to show. Nothing puts on more muscle than heavy weight + caloric surplus. Their is no direct ab that at least I can do where I can move 400 lbs. Started doing deads 2 months ago while eating in a deficit and my ab mass has gone up tremendously.     I like what you said but you contradict yourself - you said it's important to hit your abs when you're in a caloric surplus, then go on to say don't hit your abs just do deads. So what are you saying, make sure to do deads and squats while on a surplus - thanks tips lol.
    Direct ab work will help someone with undeveloped abs get abs however I believe the best exercisers for ab mass would be squats and deads while in a surplus. I believe direct ab work is better for toning abs which already have a good amount of mass to them.

    There's no such thing as toning, either you're building muscle or losing fat. You have to be on a caloric surplus to gain any type of muscle my man. Toning is just another word for lowering BF%.
    Their are workout which are glycogen depleting which most bb do before shows. These workouts secrete all water out of your muscles to help tone them. They involve super sets and drop sets. Lots of you have probably done these workouts and may notice the muscle you trained will be twitching. This is the glycogen or sugar being burned that was stored in your muscles. This is only neccesary at low body fat levels as someone who is say 20 % bf can do toning exersizes all day and not see any results.HE didn't say "Don't hit the abs", he said they don't shouldn't need direct work to grow. As in you can "hit" them as a secondary muscle group doing exercises for a different body part.
    I'm doing lots of deadlifts and ocassional squats, however my obliques/side abs are not really developing. I would say I've got my abs form direct work on them. I think it's different from person to person. What do you think?
    Could be a variable of things. For me my obliques developed well from stiff leg dead lifts and not so much conventional deadlifts. IMO the only direct ab exersized needed are decline weighted sit ups, cable crunches, weighted leg lifts,weighted oblique work. This only applies if you abs are not developing from compound movements which they should be. Perhaps your form is off and you are not engaging your core properly on deadlifts or squats.
    If you are looking to build muscle, you should search Google for "Max Muscle Extend". That might help you get the body you deserve.
